Fear is a mirage in the desert of the mind….

“I am it despite the thoughts that tell me otherwise. And if you want to know what it is, don’t ask the mind!” ~Vicki Woodyard

So we come to accept that we are it. After that, everything that is “not it” rises up to challenge us. In other words, our minds are thrown into the lions den of thoughts that threaten to tear us to shreds. What do we do then?

We tell them to come and get us. And when we do that, the miracle happens. We see that our fear was a mirage. And if it is a mirage, we can ignore it.

Fear is a mirage in the desert of the mind.

I used to fight it tooth and nail.

I used to hide from it.

I used to repress it.

Until I got so tired of the battle that I let down my guard. And that felt good.

So I invited the lions to maul me any time they wanted to.

And again I saw that they were figments of my fevered imagination.

*I wrote this a few days ago and since then I have been asked to be on Buddha at the Gas Pump hosted by Rick Archer. My dining-room/office is not set up for this. Hopefully Rob will help me figure out how to get a decent background for the interview. What I talk about will arise in the moment and I will be just as surprised as the listeners. Wish me luck. It is a great opportunity for some of my readers to see me as well as hear me. It will air in mid-November on Rick’s website.

  1. Greetings Vicky! Many times you have expressed some form of discouragement over what you’ve considered to be the low volume of comers to your site. It seems possible, even likely, that you will experience a “bump” after more viewers are made aware of your offerings consequential to a Batgap interview. Congratulations! And don’t worry so much about the “background.”
