The Cup and the Reed

Cupped and hollow
upturned and empty
receiving bliss in
succulent seclusion
the chalice and the reed
the blossom and the seed.

By moonlight and in sorrow
in sunlight very thorough
the chalice holds the moonlight
and the sun.

By bliss and by surrender
the reed, still very tender,
is now a loving cup.

The cup now holds tomorrow
in eternity no sorrow.
The cup and reed are one.
