Somebody bought a copy of “A Guru in the Guest Room.” Wow, the spirit of Swami Z lives! I invented him when my husband was undergoing chemo for his cancer. He popped into my mind wearing a bedsheet and calling himself Swami Z. Why the Z? Because I called him a sleeping teacher. Today, a decade later, I now see that I called him that for a reason. It was because at the time, everyone online was pretending to be awakened and I was protesting that through him.

I made sure that I enjoyed writing him into existence as I became a foil for his comedic teachings. Those of you who read the book know it was silly and deep at the same time. At some point he got wise and slipped away from me and the book remains in the cellar on Amazon.

One of my favorite lines from the book came from Swami Z as he began to draw more and more followers. He made a face and said, “All this love is making me sick!”

So you could say that the book is a play of consciousness written by a madwoman whose husband was dying. Swami came to save me by inventing him. And that is sort of how we live our lives….
