Small Treats

February will go by quickly compared to January, thank goodness. This morning it was below freezing when I decided to go to the used bookstore in the neighborhood. After getting 4 paperbacks, I had lunch for the first time at an Italian restaurant in the same shopping center.

When I ordered coffee, the manager made me a fresh pot. I realized they don’t sell much coffee since the milk was brought in a small glass bowl. But the coffee was delicious and so was the slice of cheese pizza that I ordered.

Two policeman were chowing down and there were several tables of women doing lunch together. This place has been here for over 20 years and this is my first time eating there.

At home I open the first paperback and find it very interesting because it is set in France. The rest of the day will be idle. I asked Rob to make turkey chili for dinner, and I still have part of my pizza left.

Enlightenment is far from my consciousness. I am simply being who I am and doing what I do. There is gratitude for the books and pizza and coffee. Small treats go a long way in February.

      1. I read one set in France titled Lisette’s List by Susan Freeland. It’s wonderful! I want to check into Trail of Crumbs, also.

          1. Also wonderful and from the library in paperback: In the Shadow of the Banyan by Ratner.
I will look into Lisette’s list, as I have trouble finding good books.

  1. Those small treats and simple pleasures are true treasures! Winter is such a wonderful time for moving inward physically in our homes and spiritually in our hearts. When my husband was out of town (he usually watches the news at sunset), I developed the beautiful ritual of sitting in my living room with no television, music, or anything related to technology on, and simply watching the sunset through the lovely winter tree branches. It was like being washed in peace.
