Opening to the Light

Vicki is an imposition upon the Christ Consciousness that dwells within. She is unaware of this, and even if she were, she would do nothing about it. Leonard Cohen speaks of this in his song,

There For You

When it all went down
And the pain came through
I get it now
I was there for you
Don’t ask me how
I know it’s true
I get it now
I was there for you

All the mystics speak of this oneness with the higher aspect of ourselves. Some call it “atman.” Once we get a glimpse of this truth, we reread their words and understand they are all saying the same thing.

I find myself in silence knowing this is true, but let an issue appear in the mind and I forget completely. The human self simply cannot live as the Christ Consciousness and get its job done. We are crucified in big ways and small; therefore we rise again in the same way.

Emily Dickinson writes that her life closed twice before its end. As did mine. Now I am in Act III, which as Leonard Cohen says, ends with the death of the hero.

We face death daily and we could die daily as well. But usually we make our plans and try to believe in them.

Vanity and pride go before us, where God would gladly do it for us.

The spiritual path— awakening, being born again— entails death in its many forms. But out of the death, the new life becomes gentler and sweeter. An alchemy of the soul is our only chance of being a true servant of God.

The words of truth ring out from every opening we have made for the light to get in. Once we know that we ourselves are the light, we are glad to be there for it.
