Back-door Writings

These are “back-door writings.” Having left social media, I am now available to a wee group of folks that know me and love me. Gone are the days of sparring with intellectuals about enlightenment.

The first thing I do in the morning is eat breakfast. I still check Facebook and my horoscope first, out of long years of habit. (I am a weakling.) Jeff Belyea was the same way. He checked FB first thing. The day of his death, he posted his last poem and then had a stroke that led to his death. We still miss his presence. He gave his testimony daily.

I try to revel in the peace of the morning before I get lost in my head. I sip coffee and let myself be reassured by words of Jesus. “My kingdom is not of this world.” His kingdom is not a mental conception but a living reality. I have my own easy chair and footstool there.

  1. I was thinking about what I wanted most, and I just heard the words “Be still.” And then the very next phrase that rushed into my head was, “Be still and know that I am God.” Don’t know what to do with that, so just being still with it.
