Beware of Trains (of Thoughts)

One thing is becoming clear. The less I am online the realer I become. That means less Vicki and more Self. I don’t think you will miss Vicki much at all; I don’t.

Vicki is hard on herself. She had to go to the mall to find a pair of reading glasses. She went to Sears, Lenscrafters, VisionWorks and Hallmark before she found a pair at Hallmark.

On the way she stopped in at 2 stores that sold makeup. The first had a vibe she didn’t like but the second store suited her to a tee. She chatted with the people that worked there and bought an eyebrow pencil and a brighter lipstick than she wore before her cataract surgery.

She laughed with the people that helped her and got a truer perspective on herself. “Don’t be so hard on yourself,” the girl that helped her said. I knew she was right about that. I am my own boss. I work my own hours. I do what I like.

I am grateful to the handful that stick with me. I have forsaken the volumes of words on Facebook. Words won’t work after you reach a certain point of solitude. The silence inside speaks clearly to you. It says “Don’t speak. Listen.”

And that is my word of the day for you. “Listen.”

  1. Love your post, Vicki. What an incredible new beginning for “Vicki” as the observer looks on. I love the salesgirl telling Vicki not to be so hard on herself. The silence within is where peace resides and I’m so glad you are so in touch with that. Love you and bet you look great with your new glasses and makeup!!

Feeling so true for me right now. Hard to listen to the truth for all the (self)talk.

  3. Vicki…Good words… I would add the importance of “brevity!” Make each word
carry a reasonably heavy load. Readers in our day and age like brevity. I am on
a couple poetry writing sites, and I always try to commend the use of brevity.

    Cheers!
