God Is Up At Bat

I write it like I see it.
So I can be free of it.
The loss, the pain,
the unrelenting rain
of karma on my poor
little head.

So stupid to be
so strong for so long.
I could have gone into
the asylum for the
terminally grief-stricken.
No insurance coverage
for that dilemma.
Not even FEMA.

God, I am counting
on You to make good
on your loan.
Pay me back for all you
took from me so cruelly.

And then God said,
“It’s all in your head.
They’re not really dead.
They’re just asleep.”

And I said, “Well, we ALL are.”
And that shut God up.
And He moved towards me
with His Eyes healing me,
making me a writer that
heals people with her honesty.
And so I settled for that.
And God is up at bat.

  1. If we shadows have offended,
Think but this and all is mended,
That you have but slumber’d here
    While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream…
